About School

Our School, JHOREHAT FAKIR CHANDRA HIGH SCHOOL (H.S) is located at the core of Andul town and near the bank of river “Saraswati” at Jhorehat under Sankrail Block in the district of Howrah, West Bengal

In the long past during the British Empire it was founded in the Year 1900 with two little class rooms on the donated Land of Sri Fakir Chandra Ghosh being prompted by hearty attempt of some far-sighted youth and entreprenurs of Jhorehat area to commemorate the glorious return of “SWAMI VIVEKANANDA” after the conquest of the Earth from “Parliament of Religions Conference” in Chicago in America.

At first it was Two Class (I & II) Lower Primary School, named “Banga Bandhab”. Next two classes (III & IV) were included in the very next year, i.e – in the year 1901. Then teachers like Mr. Kalipada Chakraborty along with a few others worked with reputation.

A few years later the School was transformed into a two class (V & VI) English Medium School and Sri Tarapada Seth performed the duty of the Headmaster. The name of the School was then “JHOREHAT MIDDLE ENGLISH SCHOOL”.

After the death of the Hon’ble founder Fakir Chandra Ghosh , it was known as “JHOREHAT FAKIR CHANDRA HIGH SCHOOL” and upgraded from 2 class Middle English School to X (Ten) class High School in the year 1952 by the zeal of the then Headmaster, Sri Atul Chandra Roychowdhury and got Government recognition, Vide Memo No – 665(Bd) dated 17-01-1952 w.e.f :- 01-01-1952 and was imparting Higher Secondary (Class –XI) with two streams, i.e – Humanities and Commerce w.ef :- 01-01-1966.

The School was upgraded as Higher Secondary School (10+2) with Co-Education in the year 2010. Vide Memo No. – DS(A)/SD/71/Recog/10 dated 28/6/2010 of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Now it has converted into Govt. Sponsored Higher Secondary School.

Thousand and thousand students received quality Education from this age old Institution and got established and gained reputation in their own respective fields.
