In the 2nd half of the 19th century when innumerable superstitions and lack of education engulfed every part of the society in Bengal, Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, the legendary educator, social reformer and above all one of the pioneers of the Renaissance of Bengal ,came forward with a determined mind to remove all these rubbish creating hindrance in the natural and smooth progress of the society. He found that the root of all of these was nothing but lack of education. So he emphasized on mass education, woman education and education in Bengali. After that, he set up many vernacular schools for girls and the poor in several parts of Bengal. In this historical backdrop, being inspired by Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar and with the intention to spread his ideals and effusions to every hierarchy of the society respected Sitanath Kundu Chowdhury,a local zamindar,led to establish--- Sahajyakrita Banga Vidyalaya Mohiary, later it acquired the name-- Mohiary Middle English School and finally it got its present name --MOHIARY HIGH SCHOOL (H.S.) in 2013 with a number of changes in between.
