History

KOLORAH GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL (H.S) was founded in the year 1961 on 2nd January. The school was founded with an objective to spread the importance of women’s education in the locality. Sri Banamali Ghoshal, members of Kolorah Binapani Club and other interested villagers of Kolorah took the main initiative to build the school. Initially the school was started in a cottage like structure of Binapani Club with 13 students and 2 teachers. Then the school was up to VI th standard. Smt. Smritikana Guha was the founder H.M. of the school. Then, she handovers her immense duty to her younger sister Smt. Archana Guha. It was heard that the transport facilities were then very poor and they had to come to the school by walking in a muddy waterlogged road.

Gradually in the year 1986 the school was upgraded to VIIIth standard. Smt. Arati Das, Ex H.M. of the school devoted her total period of service to restructure the school.

In the year 2006 the school was upgraded into Secondary level without a H.M. Sri Gobinda Lal Sarkar (Ex Secretary) and Sri Samar Nath Banerjee (Ex Clerk) with the help of Teacher In charge took the herculean task to run the school successfully.

In the year Dr. Barna Sanyal joined as H.M. of the school after so many years. With her imaginative approach and intensive effort and the help of Managing Committee, local people the School was upgraded into Higher Secondary level in the year 2018 and the academic session started from 2019.

Now from a cottage like structure the school is transformed into 3 storied building with around 550 students and 13 teaching staffs.
