History

Salkia Hindu School for Girls began functioning in 1963. In the year 1968 it was recognized by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. At the time of recognition 9 posts for teaching staff, including the post of the H.M, 1 post for the clerk and 2 Gr.D posts were sanctioned. Late Sri Gour Hari Ghosh was the founder of the institution and his daughter Smt. Shanti Ghosh was the first H.M of the school. At present we have 14 sanctioned posts for teaching staff, including the H.M, one post for the clerk and 2 Gr.Dposts. After the retirement of Smt. Champa Basistha as H.M in October 2019, Smt. Koyel Kirty has taken charge as the T.I.C.

The Mid-day-meal programme was introduced in 2008 and is run with the assistance of a sel-help-group.

In 2014 the school was converted from the category of 'aided school' to that of a 'sponsored school'.
