To realize the importance of women education, Late Jawaharlal Chatterjee, the famous zaminder of Bantra area established the “Bantra Rajlakshmi Balika Vidyalaya” on the day of 14 th February,1929 in the memory of his munificent mother Smt. Rajlakshmi Devi. At the beginning, the classes of primary and secondary were occurred unitedly at 46/5, Chatterjeepara Lane. At that time the students were taught upto the class vi. On those days all expenses of school were incurred by Late Jawaharlal Chatterjee (Kakababu). All the necessary books, pencils, and other materials i.e. the snacks (tiffin) were given by Kakababu to the students. Late Ushangini Biswas was the first head of the institution. In 1944, the school was upgraded as “Madhyamik School”. For the lack of space the school was shifted at 15,16, Sarat Dutta Lane, on the land of 44 kathas.
At present, it is the permanent address of the school. The former school building became the quarter of the teachers. At present it is a pile of ruins. Much Ganga water has flown down the Ganga since then. Bearing all odds and obstacles in course or its long journey the school stands with its head held high as ever. In 1984, late Bimal Pratibha Bandyopadhyay, came to the school as the head of the institution. In 1956, the headmistress was late Anukadi. In the 1958, Kakababu left us on 21 st April.in 1067, Late Sachi Biswas brought glory to the school to achieve the National Award as the head of the institution. After her retirement Smt. Namita Mukherjee took the charge as HM in 1989 and Smt’Anubha Mukhopadhyay successively. The school of antiquity is an ideal academic atmosphere sustained over the years through cordial relationship between the teachers and the taught.
