On 2nd January 1956, a British orphanage named Baal Seva Sadan founded Liluah Bhartiya High School at Liluah in Howrah. It began with only nineteen students and a band of committed teachers. It was later recognized by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 1958. The School soon made legendary progress in all fields by all standards. It turned into a government-aided school in 1980 and currently it is a government sponsored school under the West Bengal government. A Hindi-medium and co-educational School, Liluah Bhartiya has played a significant role in the social and intellectual history of post-Independence.
It is now a large family comprising nearly 600 students, 5 teachers and 6 committee paid staff. But the enormity of the institution in no way hampers the bonding between staff and students. Excellence is the buzzword down every corridor – excellence in academics, in co-curriculars, in creativity, in producing an impressive alumni.
