
Rani Bhabani School is one of the oldest and renowned boys’ school in North Kolkata, West Bengal. The school was founded in 1916 by Maharaja of Natore, Jagadindranath Roy and eminent educationist Roy Bahadur Khagendranath Mitra. The school was established receiving financial help from Zamindar of Natore. Rani Bhabani was a Zamindar during the British Colonial era in what is now of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. She was famous for her sagacity, generosity and extensive social works.
Mr. H.C.Claridge was the first head master of the school. Benimadhab Das, teacher of NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose was also the head master of this institution.
The school was started in Simla area of North Kolkata. Then it was shifted to D.L.Roy Street and continued for a very long period. The day of January 15, 1967 own building of the school in Goabagan was inaugurated by ex-student and famous finance minister of India Sachindra Nath Chowdury.
In 2012,Sarva Shiksha Mission, Govt. of West Bengal has set up a residential unit in our school for education of poor children of our State.
We are very grateful to Dr. Gautam Ghosh, an ex-student of this institution and then the Teacher-in-Charge for his great effort to set up a residential unit like this.In the year 2016 we have celebrated our centenary in presence of our eminent ex-students like Ranjugopal Mukherjee, former VC of North Bengal University, Prof. Gunendranath Majumdar, former Joint Secretary, Department of Education, W.B, and Mr. Jayanta Mitra, former Advocate General, Govt. of W.B, Mr. Anindya Mitra, former Advocate General, Govt. of W.B and renowned Artist Shri Partha Ghosh.
