History

The name Baptist Girls'School has been mentioned in "Bange Jishur Bijoy Jatra", a souvenir, to commemorate the 50 th Anniversary ( 1793- 1942) of Baptist Mission Society. The noble soul, William Carey, a Christian Missionary, established a residential school for the  orphan poor children in 1821. After his demise, the school was shifted to this address i.e 84, Dr. Suresh Sarkar Road, Entally, Kolkata 700014. This historical institution was, in fact, a pioneer and an important name among the famous svhscho in India This school then faced numerous hardships and problems over the years and was split in two schools viz. Baptist Mission School and Baptist Girls' High School which ran simultaneously at one point time and finally amalgamated to form a Government Sponsored school in 1969 which is now known as Baptist Girls'School ( Govt. Sponsored).
