History

Sarat Chandra Sur Institution was first established in 1953. Bankim Chandra Sarkar, Honourable Counsellor, was the Founder Secretary of this school. In those initial days the school used to be held in the school building of Jiva Shiva Mission school, situated near the present day premises. In 1964, Mriganka Mohan Sur, of Sur Industries, donated the plot for the present day building at 12, Pottery Road, Kolkata 700015. Accumulating money, bit by bit,from the salaries of the teachers, the building was contructed. The name of the school was coined after Late Sarat Chandra Sur, father of Mriganka Mohan Sur. Till date the school is standing with its glory.
