WAHED MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL (URDU MEDIUM-COEDN)
Demand for an Urdu medium high school in the mid-nineties for the increasing Urdu speaking population in the vicinity of Broad Street- Park Circus area resulted in setting up Wahed Memorial High School in 1996. After several futile attempts previously, the movement came to its realization. A committee was constituted with eminent persons of the locality. A vacant plot adjacent to primary school of the same name--- Wahed Memorial G S F P School was selected. Construction started with the contributions of the local people. The generosity of the local people shaped the vacant land into some tiled-roof rooms. Initially classes started for grades V-VII both for boys and girls. The organising committee moved the KMC for allotment of land. The land was allotted. West Bengal Board of Secondary Education was approached for its recognition. First recognition granted as 4 class jr high school and subsequently upgraded to 10 class high school in 2000 and 2006 respectively.
Requisition for appointment of regular teaching staff was sent to the School Service Commission through proper channel. Miss Hasina Bano joined as the first approved teaching staff of this school. Tireless efforts of the committee members under the leadership of Late Wajid Ali Ex Headmaster Md Jan Higher Secondary School and Sri Sujit Kumar Das Principal New Alipore College turned the roof tiled rooms into a permanent building. MPLAD & BEUP Funds were used to develop the structure.
