The school was established in 1934. The school was established by prominent people of the pre-independence society with the aim of educating ordinary girls and women. It was provisionally recognised by Calcutta University on 22nd July,1948. The school was recognised by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 1967. Recognition of the school was extended by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 1974. The school was converted from Non Government aided school to Government Sponsored school in 2013 of the School Education Department, Government of West Bengal.
