History

The Mother  institution was founded by Sujata Devi, daughter-in-law of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das in 1948. Just after Independence Mahatma Gandhi handed over six orphan children to Sujata Devi when she was in a deep depression losing her own child. She set up this school to educate these children in a formal way. School got recognition from the state board in 1953.Since  then the school is working for the children who lacks proper care at home . Initially it was a Bengali Medium School for only for Girls. Hence with the advancement of  time and the requirement of the society for a “ English Medium School ” , Later in the year , on 20th December 2018,  an English Medium Unit of Sujata Devi Vidyamandir was established and name as “ Sujata Devi Vidyamandir English Medium Unit.” With Co-Education .  Through the inception of this Unit , the teachers who had contributed during the establishment process were Smt. Sudipta Chaudhuri - HM of Sujata Devi Vidyamandir ,  Mohammad Wahid Ansari - AT, Sanjeev Karmakar- AT, Saurabh Roy - AT and Manoj Rajak – AT. Later on Mohammad Wahid Ansari took over the unit as Teacher-In-Charge.
