History

Multipurpose Govt. Girls’ School was established in the year 1960 at one corner of the sprawling green of Hastings House, Alipore. It started with only a handful of students attending classes from VI to VIII under the supervision of Late Smt. Shanti Banerjee, H.M., Sakhawat Memorial Govt. Girls’ School. The first H.M., Jyotiprava Dasgupta took charge soon and the school was extended from class VIII to Class XII. The school now has 3 buildings. The Secondary and Higher Secondary sections have separate buildings. The Primary classes are held in the historical guest house of Warren Hastings.
