
In 1933 on 1st March, Mrs. Sushama Sengupta heralded a new era in the history of education by establishing Lake School For Girls. At the begining she herself carried out the duties of both the Secretary and Headmistress of the school.With only 13 students and a handful of dedicated teachers the school started on its journey.Meanwhile, Mrs.Sushama Sengupta received the National Award for Education in 1966, from the President, Dr. Sarvapally Radhakrishnan.She has laid equal emphasis on education as well as co-curricular and cultural activities.It is due to her will power and hard core belief in girls' education that gradually the school became one of the most renound institution in Bengal.
