During the tumultuous period of partition of Bengal in the year 1947, hordes of people left their ancestral abode in East Pakistan (Present Bangladesh) and settled in different parts of this state (now known as West Bengal). New colonies were set up at different localities of the southern fringes of Kolkata and education was the only weapon to empower such displaced refugees and no time was wasted to set up schos and educational institutions for their children.
Thus Netajinagar Vidyamandir was founded, which hosted both boy's and girl's school at different shifts, under the same roof.
In 1951 a seperate school building was established for the Girls and it was named Netajinagar Balika Vidyamandir.
From the very beginning under the sincere guidance of teachers and well wishers the school has managed to traverse a long way and establish itself as one of the more renowned schools in Tollygunge, Kolkata for the enrichment of young minds.
