History

Situated at Purba Putiary, near Tollygunge, at a stone's throw distance from the Netaji Metro Station (Kudghat), Gangapuri Siksha Sadan (H. S.), began its journey on 2nd January, 1954. Set up on a barren land, with tin-shed or thatched classrooms, the Boys' School initially provided Upper Primary Education. Gradually in 1955, Class IX came into being and finally in 1958, it obtained the affiliation needed for the students to appear in the School Final Examination. In 1962, the school witnessed colossal infrastructural and scholastic development with the building becoming concrete and became an institution of repute in the academic-scape of the city. There has never been a dearth of brilliance in the school and some achievers worthy of mention are :

Sri Manik Kishore Roy (7th in Higher Secondary Examination 1968), Sri Amitabha Das (4th in Madhyamik Pariksha 1978), Sri Somnath Ganguly (10th in Higher Secondary Examination 2005), Sri Subhajit Sen ( 25th in Madhyamik Pariksha 2006), Sri Avijit Chaki (27th in Madhyamik Pariksha 2006).

These apart, the school can boast of an alumni who have carved their names in the upper echelons of varied spheres. Under the guidance of eminent educators and administrators the school soared to glorious heights and is still continuing its illustrious tradition.
