History

The foundation stone of Behala Girls,  High  School ( H . S ) was laid down by Late Pramothonath Mukhopadhyay in 1948 . Local People met great difficulty in finding a school of a high standard for their girls to be trained  to be good citizens with Indian  customs and manners. Their great love and compassiou for the local girls  led to the setting up of school.

        From a small beginning with a few staff members and seven students in the room of  Behala Sikshayatan school in morning  shift , starting from class five , the school eventually grew up  into a great intellrctual , cultural and educational centre . It now has a distinct higher secondary sections starting from class V .  

         At present the student strength of the school is near about 1200  . Today the name of the school shines and has achieved  laurels almost in the heart of the  city .
