The school has a vast and unique history of its growth, starting as a small budding initiative with a meagre 5 students but with a myriad of eclectic dreams. The school was established in the 1st of January in 1969, and the premises of the erstwhile Barisha Asar Vidyapith Boys’ School Building was chosen. The founding President was Prof. Biswanath Chakroborty, the founding Headmistress was Smt. Uma Basu, and the founding Secretary was Sri Nanda Dulal Basu.
The school was recognised as a Junior High School for students after Class IV in the year 1971 and it served so until the 31st of December,1972. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education then recognised the school as a High School with effect from 1.1.1973 with 14 Sanctional Teaching Staff and 1+2 Non Teaching Staff. The school came under the Salary Deficit Scheme w.e.f. the 1st of April, 1979. Following this, the school allotted 2 additional Teaching and 2 additional Non Teaching Staff Positions.
The year 1993 marked the new era in the history of the school. The school shifted to its new premises, the present address being 63, Ramchandra Pally and re-emerged as a day school. Since then, it has operated in the same exceptional teaching methods alongside lending a caring hand to all of its students and guardians. The school forever followed Swamiji's ideals of all round education and development, and has thus turned out to be a premier institute in the Behala Area.
On the 2nd of September, 2014, Dr. Mita Mallick Basak, who is the present Headmistress of the school, joined the school in the same post. Since then, she has been a pioneer in many of the creative undertakings by the school. The school currently operates at a staggering 4:1 teacher-student ratio, thus ensuring that no child loses the care of the teacher.
