History

With the inspiration of few local education enthusiasts of East Barisha Govt. Colony the school was established on 13th January, 1966. Inspired by thought and ideologies of Swami Vivekananda. Initially the school was started with only 20/25 students from class V to VIII as junior high school, affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.

In 1970 the school was upgraded to Madhyamik school. In spite of having co-education from the birth stage in Barisha Vivekananda High School, in 1982 girls' section was separated.

In the year 2000, the school was upgraded to higher secondary school affiliated to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Complete co-education system is there in higher secondary section. In both Science and Arts are taught here with great care and affection. Physics, Chemistry, Mathyematics, Biology, Computer Science, Modern Computer Application, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Sanskrit are the subjects student can choose from beside Bengali and English. Well equipped Laboratories for Computer, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography with all necessary modern instruments are set up.

To enrich the horizon of knowledge and develop innate wisdom among the students and also to inspire them and make enthusiastic to acquire more knowledge, a modern library was established in 2004. Presently there are more than 6000 books in the library.
