History

Bartala in Metiabruz is an extremely conservative minority dominated locality. Female education was unthinkable at one time. Overcoming a lot of obstacles and huddles from the male-dominated conservative society a few progressive individuals decided to impart education among the female children. After a lot of futile efforts Bartala Girls’ High School became success and took its birth from Bartala Moslem Library, an iconic establishment. Five female students came forward in the beginning. Gradually the news spread and with time and untiring effort the huddles were crossed and Bartala Girls’ High School was established in 1966 on a land donated by enthusiasts. The founder members and enthusiasts in female education were Akhtar Hossain, Golam Rasul, Abu Taher, Haji Nurul Haque Mali, Noor Nabi, Barjahan Mali, Md Amin. Finally the school received recognition for classes IX & X
