History

Barkhali High School is the oldest school of Falta Police Station. It was established in 1906 in an obscure village named Barkhali. However, no record of actual establishment was formed. Late Raghab Chandra Kayal, a resident of village Barkhali, donated 24 decibel land on which the foundation of the school was laid. At first a teacher sheltered by late Raghab Chandra Kayal would teach the rural boys and girls under the shadow of a big mango tree. Then the school building was erected with only two rooms. It was an M.E. school initially only with two Classes –V and  VI. It became a Junior High School in 1961. Gradually the number of students increased and the school was upgraded to a Secondary School in 1986. Mr. Milan Dutta was then the Headmaster of the school. Thereafter, long 26 years elapsed, Mr. Mahes Mandal joined the school as Headmaster in 2005. The school was upgraded to a Higher Secondary school in his time. Mr. Tamonash Ghosh, Ex-M.L.A of Falta , helped a lot to upgrade the school into a Higher Secondary one. Although, the school was the oldest in the locality , it was never in the lime light. It is almost a mystry why the school was so neglected. The Headmasters who tried their best to uplift the lot of the school were Mr. Gana Nath Mondal, Mr. Nanda Dulal Dhara, Mr. Mrinal Kanti Halder, Mr. Arabinda Mondal, Mr. Mahes Mandal. Many assistant teachers and the M.C members also assisted the Headmasters to march forward. The roll strength of the school is about 1150 at present. The school is no doubt, in its hey-days and is throbbing with the hectic activities of the Headmasters, Teachers and the students.
