HISTORY OF ANCHNA BALIKA VIDYALAYA(H.S.)
Need for woman education is still a national issue that has remained unattended in some parts of India even today. But there are some remote corners that are fortunate enough to show the light of education to their womenfolk within two decades of country's independence.Anchna, a remote village of south 24 parganas,is one such place. At that time of people of Anchna took a positive step to establish an all-girls' school in its vicinity resulting in today's pride of the village---Anchna Balika Vidyalaya(H.S.).It was chiefly because of the combined efforts of Basanta Kumar Banik, a visionary, Srinibas naskar (land donor) and some educated young enthusiasts that the entire locality came true. The conservative social structure posed much threat, but their spirit was indomitable.
ANCHNA BALIKA VIDYALAYA(H.S.) was established on the 12th day of january,1966 with a view to impart formal education to the girls of the locality. the school is affiliated toWBBSE and WBCHSE. Initialy the school was allowed to teach class-V and class -VI. In 1969 recognition was granted to open class-VII and class-VIII. Finally it was upgraded to a secondary school with class-IX and class-X in1973. The school as if added a colourful feather to its crown when it was furhter upgraded in 2013 to a higher secondary school with science and arts streams.
The school now has two storeyed building of its own, comprising 12 rooms including an well equipped laboratory and a library. The huge influx of students durring admission every year bespeaks of the quality education it imparts. And again the result of the students in M.P. and H.S. examinations make the teachers more resolute than complacent to give them more in future; for the school believes in the motto of "Charaiveti"(move forword) and the sky is the limit of its progress.
