History

Rabindra Balika Vidyapith was established in 1961 as a junior high school with the noble view to cater quality education to the girl students of the locality. Initially, in absence of her own building the school was run from the building of her brother concern Akra Saktigarh Rabindra Bidyapith in the morning session. In 2000, the school got affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and was recognized as a high school. The first batch of Madhyamik examinees appeared for their board examination in 2002. Finally, with the initiative of the Akra Shaktigarh Samabay Palli Sangathan o Grihonirman Samity Limited the school established her own building in 2005. In 2012, West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education gave affiliation to the school to introduce higher secondary curriculum in the Arts Stream. Finally, from the academic session of 2017-18, Science Stream was introduced. Presently the school is running as a Government Sponsored Bengali Medium Institution imparting education to about 2300 girl students from classes V to XII.

The school boasts of a very bright academic record in both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examinations. Besides, our students take active participation in various co-curricular and social activities. Well-equipped laboratories pertaining to all the lab based subjects, a well enriched library cum reading room with uninterrupted internet connection, a career hub to guide the students professionally, a sick room for attending to those who need it, pure and safe drinking water from purifiers and cool drinking water from cooling machine are some of the facilities the students are provided with. We also have an I.C.T enabled smart-class room sufficiently equipped with 2 units of k-yan to help our students experience the modern techniques of education. Compulsory computer education is imparted to the students with the assistance of Webel at the school’s own computer lab. Keeping pace with the era, the school possesses her own Public Address System and 24 hours CCTV coverage. In addition to these, the school with an aim to ensure sustainability, avails a rain water harvesting plant and solar panels. “Go Green”, being our motto, the school is happy with its initiative of harvesting fresh vegetables to be served to our girls in mid-day meals. Discipline and cleanliness are considered to be the top most priorities in the school’s list of agendas. Hence, prefects and child cabinet are elected. Not only that, trained in self-defence, our “Swayangsiddha” volunteers have actively united to stop child marriage and girl-child trafficking. Regarding cleanliness, we have our own incinerator and vending machine to relieve us of the wastages. Also we have clean well maintained toilets with continuous water supply and hourly cleaning.

Aided by these facilities and our honest efforts, we look forward to contribute towards development of our girls into independent, successful women, empowered with human qualities.
