Felicitated in 2008, by our former President of India Dr Prof APJ Abdul Kalam, as one of the ten (10) Heritage Schools in Kolkata, Rajpur Vidyanidhi High School (H.S.) is an age-old institution of 151 years, developing successfully children of different cross-sections rich and poor, meritorious, mainstream and differently-abled. The school promotes holistic development of adolescents and is proud to hold on record notable alumni serving globally and nationally in fields of technology, academics, music, theatre, cinema and social service. The school continues to uphold the vision of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, on whose direction in 1869, Dr Srinath Vidyanidhi, son of Pandit Girish Chandra Vidyaratna, founded the school. Amidst all the English Medium Schools at that time of British rule, Vidyasagar, a Senior Associate of Girish Chandra Bhattacharya, asked to found a Bengali Medium School in Rajpur because 'Barnaparichay' had been published and a Bengali printing press had come to vogue by Vidyasagar’s initiative. Thus came our Rajpur Banga Vidyalaya. Initially a Primary school, it gradually became Secondary and Higher Secondary School, and now runs down-the-ages by Government of West Bengal sponsorship under the Board and Council of West Bengal.
Our school has been brought to the present stature of renown by notable Headmasters Bipin Bhattacharya, Prabodh Bhattacharya, Manas Kumar Chattopadhyay, Sudhinath Sarkar, the legacy of which tradition has now been taken up by Dr Shyamal Kumar Biring in July 2019.
