History

Byabattarhat Adarsha High School has traveled in the path of light for nine decades. It has been playing a pivotal role in spreading education among the masses in locality embodying ideals of wisdom, friendship and progress. But the path of the school since its inception is not at all smooth sailing.

On December 30,1931, a meeting of the Palli Sammilani was held in the shop of Bipin Behari Kundu under the chairmanship of Babu Suresh Chandra Chakraborty with a view to establishing a Middle English School at Byabattarhat. In this meeting 66 people were present and they formed an Executive Committee for the purpose.

The school started immediately next year with class V at the drawing room (baithakkhana) of Bipin Behari Kundu and the school continued there for five years with the name NARADARI ADARSHA VIDYALAYA.

Then on November 15,1936, in another meeting held in front of the shop of Lakshmi Narayan Maity under the chairmanship of Sasodhar Das Roy Bahadur,108 people from adjacent villages took a decision to shift the school to Byabattarhat from the drawing room of Bipin Behari Kundu. Indranarayan Maity gladly donated 41 decimal land beside the road for the foundation of the school at Byabattarhat.

Then a significant meeting in the history of the school took place on December 28,1936. Bibhuti Bhushan Samanta took the chair and 110 people present in the meeting from different nearby villages of the area took the decision to collect four annas as donation and even handful of rice as alms from the common people for construction of the school building. The mud walled building was made and NARADARI ADARSHA VIDYALAYA was shifted to Byabattarhat with the  new name BYABATTARHAT ADARSHA HIGH SCHOOL in its own new building.

Thus the school was established on February 15,1937and Kshirode Chandra Maity became the first founder Headmaster of the school. This way the school has become a school of the villagers,by the villagers and for the villagers of the area in the true sense of the term.
