History

                  The genesis of Shankpur Barkhania High School (H.S.) is quite interesting. It is said that few hundred years ago in this rural village, Shankpur a "PEER SAHEB" named "BARKHAN" lived sagaciously with his magestic powers. In the advance of time he became well-known as "BARKHAN BABA", a mythical figure in this region. From his name the dazzling word Barkhania originates . Our school was established on 01.01.1961 by a group of needy but education- impassioned and benevolent villagers longing for the full blessings, sagacity, strength and magnanimity of BARKHAN BABA. The school mud building was crected by the local subscription with the contribution from the education impassioned persons. The school started its journey with a few students of class - V & VI. The tireless efforts of the teachers and the villagers promoted the govt. to give affiliation the school as Junior High School on 01.01.1965. After smooth running of the school the thithen Govt. upgraded the school into Secondary School on 01.01.1969. In 2012 our school is also upgraded to Higher Secondary School and has been under Govt. sponsored School in 2013. The long cherished desire of the school founders has become fruitful with the development of the institution into a mini society having the well-equipped educational ambience with library, labs, well ventilated class rooms, dinning room, cycle stand, cultural stage, wash rooms, computer labs, multigym, with the constant endeavour and co-operations of parents, guardians, staffs, governmental financial support and skilled well planned administration of the school authority. Now total 1382 student are enrolled of whom mostly are from Muslim Minority Community. Our institution has flourished with a goal to instill knowledge, values and attitude without any barrier of religion, gendar, colour cast and creed.

              We are expectant to sustain its holistic development more and much more and smooth running in coming days.
