History

On the auspicious occasion of 22nd Dec. of 1963, a meeting was held at JHANJIA PRIMARY SCHOOL premises under the presidentship of inquisitive Sri Nagendra Nath Jana, where it was unanimously resolved to set up a Junior High School for the educational upliftment of the younger generation in the locality. On this holy moment his excellence SRI SUDHIR CHANDRA HUI promised to donate one acre of land to set up such sanctified institution after the name of his beloved father LATE GOPAL CHANDRA HUI. All the members attended the meeting promised to donate liberally and also promished to collect  in cash and kind from among the adjoining villagers of JHANJIA,  KAJICHAK, KALUA AKUB, KALUA BRINDABAN, NACHIPUR, BARUNIA, SURATCHAK, RAMPURA, SRIDHARPUR, DAMODARPUR, DARRA,etc. The new set up is ready to be recognised.  

      SRI NAGENDRA NATH JANA and SRI BIRENDRA NATH HUI was the foundrer President and Secretary respectively of the first Ad-Hoc Committee of the school.

      The dream of such sagacious persons came into reality with the first recognition as a 2 class JHANJIA GOPAL CHANDRA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL  w. e f. 01/01/1964 by the W.B.B.S.E. vide memo no-1780/G dt. 02/02/1965. Subsequently the school was upgraded as  4  class JHANJIA GOPAL CHANDRA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL  w.e.f. 01/01/1966 by the W.B.B.S.E.  vide memo no 14445/G dt. 25/05/1967. After which the school raised its status as  X  class JHANJIA GOPAL CHANDRA HIGH SCHOOL w.e.f. 01/01/1970 by W.B.B.S..E. vide memo no- 13688/G dt. 30/12/1970. Respected Sri Ramananda Roy was the founder Headmaster of this secondary school .

      After a long journey to fulfill the aspiration of the locality and also to flourish into its optimal the school was elevated into Higher Secondary School by the W.B.C.H.S.E. vide memo no- DS(Aca)SD/0475/RECOG/2016 dt. 25/02/2016 with the heartiest efforts of the-then Managing Committee and Headmaster Sri Arup Bhunia.

         Since then the JHANJIA GOPAL CHANDRA HIGH SCHOOL(H.S.), a co-educational school ,is imparting lessons in both ARTS and SCIENCE stream with ENGLISH, BENGALI, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY, GEOGRAPHY, COMPUTER APPLICATION, NUTRITION, EDUCATION, SANSKRIT, HISTORY  along with normal secondary section with good reputation.
