History

Tanua Swami Vivekananda Vidyamandir (H.S) is situated at the center of eight densely attached villages in the remote area of Mohanpur Block, Paschim Medinipur.Some well wishers of the school and patrons of learning of this location took initiative for the establishment of this institution to eradicate the  darkness of illeteracy by the enlightenment of knowledge in the year 1970.They named the institution by the name of Swamiji inorder to bring the future learners under the same umbrella,irrespective of religious,cultureal and social affiliation with emotional bonding or 'brotherhood'.

The school was founded on 12th January,1970.It is managed by School Education Department of the Govt. of West Bengal .As a co-education institution,it got the recognition as a 4-class Junior High School in 1971, followed by recognition as a X-class school in 1973 and as a Higher Secondary School in 2014.

Students are from the surrounding villages especially from Tanua,Mitinia,Palua,Kashiahak,Bhatia,Kanuchak,Patna,Kuraria.The teaching and the non-teaching staff of the school along with the members of the school administration try their best to cater to their academic and co-curriculam needs .The school strives to fulfill Swamiji's vision about The country - an enlightened India.
