
History:
Netaji Girls' High School was established on 24th January in 1954.The people of the locality if Subhash pally,Siliguri who were concerned about the society and were much educated tried their best to streamline the society in a correct path.For this reason cultural activities like drama, public institution like library and also an educational institution were meant to be set up. It has been intimated by the school authority that in the year 1950 there was such a initiative taken by the Pally Unnayan Samity of Subhash Pally Siliguri.At the beginning there were a handful of members precisely a union of 5.Due to their tiredless efforts the drama was started at the first and then there was a initiative taken for the formation of a library .After 4 years in 1954,the members of the union had set up an educational institution namely Netaji Girls' High School.On the land property given by the five members there were different institutions started.The academic session was started by teaching class-I and class-II under a small tin shed roof.Today that institution has turned up to be the most successful and education worthy institution in the whole city of Siliguri.Late sri Suresh Sur was one of the most important members and was the first Secretary of Managing Committee of Netaji Girls' High School.
At first the teaching session was started with the help of 4 teachers.Upto the year 1960,students upto grade IV were taught and upto the year 1964 it was co-educational i.e. both girls and boys were taught under the same shade.The girls were taught in the morning session and the boys were taught in the day session.The school was upgraded upto class X in the year 1964 and the Higher Secondary Education was started from 2002 onwards.
First Headmistress late Smt Gita Dutta donated 3 lakhs rupees for library.At present more than 2500 books are there in the library. Smt Gita Dutta donated 15 lakhs rupees for construction of building which is now the main building of Netaji Girls' High School.She also donated 60,000 rupees for giving prizes in different cultural events and for meritorious students.The former teachers of the institution had helped financially for the well being of the institution.
