History

The history dates back to 1960 when a school came into being on a sprawling plot of land generously donated by agood Samaritan, Late Haridas Goswami of the Ashram adjacent to the school. The patronage was Late Binode Behari Sarkar , the founder Head Master, whose earnest endeavour, painstaking efforts and farsightedness contibuted a lot for the cause of the institution at the very initial stage.Thae school stared its journey with only seven students in a ramshackle hut named as `ANANDA NIKETAN BIDYAPITH`. Later on it was named ` SAHID PRAFULLA CHAKI BIDYALAYA`. Finally in 1962, the school got its present name(Siliguri Baradakanta Vidyapith). Three years later, in 1965 the school received Govt. recognition as a  four class junior school and subsequently the school was raised to a 10 class High School in 1969. In 1994, school emerged as a full-fledged Higher Secondary School having all three disciplines. From the session 2010-2011, school intruduced English medium in H.S.science stream and  Co Ed.in same stream from 2014 after getting govt. permission.
