History

For many years the serpentine moribund river Alaikumri and its surrounding village Pakuritala witnessed dark due to lack of education.There was no school at Pakuritala near Alipurduar of undivided Jalpaiguri district for celebration of first Independence Day. By this time Nagendra Nath Barman, a simple and noble villager, felt the necessity of Education and gathered a few interested person. They decided to establish a school to enlighten the poor village by education. A foundation stone was laid down on 03.02.1949 in a land donated by Rajchandra Adhikary, Durgeswar Adhikary, Dineswar Adhikary and Dudheswar Adhikary. The school started its journey on 28.06.1949 in a thatched house. Thus the people around 10 km radius got the opportunity of education. Nagendra Nath Barman was the founder secretary of the school and he held the post up to the year 1970 with a pause between 08.09.1963 – 07.02.1968. The first President of the school was Narendra Nath Ray.

Sudhir chandra Tarafder served the school as first Headmaster. Harakanta Majumder, an assistant teacher of initial stage, fully dedicated himself for students. Narendra Chandra Dutta, an alumnus of Victoria College, Coochbehar, was appointed as an assistant teacher in 1959. On 01.07.1963, he held the chair of Headmaster of the school and the school flourished under his leadership.

The school were upgraded to Junior High School (class VIII) in 1962, High School (class X) in 1966 and Higher Secondary (class XII) in 2006. Tapsikhata High School was previously recognized as Government Aided school. The school converted from Government aided school to Government Sponsored School in 2015.

Now, it has got pucca house by financial assistance of SSM/ SSA.
