Rabikanta High School started its journey with the name 'Jayanti Samabay Junior high school' on 1st January, 1962. Few of the erstwhile educationists as well as founder members were late Sudhir Chandra Paul, late Dharmadas Mukherjee, late Bidhubhushan Karjee, late Amulya Ray, late Dr. Sureshwar Paul, late Khokan Sanyal  and Haji Najib Ali and the latest cooperated the school authority with a  room without which the teaching learning process could have not been started.  Their role in building this institution would be remembered with regards forever.

     The first Head Master of the institution was Muktabhushan Saha, then Smt. Chhaya Mukherjee and later on Chandidas Ganguly.

In 1969, the institution gained the dignity of upgradation from Junior to High School. At that time, late Sushil Lahiri served as the Head Master of the institution. And proudly mentioned that in the same year,  two enthusiastic brothers , late Amulya Roy and Prafulla Roy , came forward to donate their land for the establishment of the school on a desirable condition to name the school in memory of  their deceased father, Rabikanta Roy. In 1994, the name 'Jayanti Samabay' was transformed as 'Rabikanta High School' with  benevolent efforts of the then Secretary, Gourkanta Roy and contemporary assistant teacher, Mr. Sujit Kumar Dev. Eventually, the institution was installed in its own possession and the house where the school had been conducted for so long was returned to the owner consequently.

The first President of school committee was late Dharmadas Mukherjee and the first Secretary of the same was late Amulya Roy.
