History

Thakur Panchanan Vidyapith (H. S) is a state government sponsored higher secondary school.  It is located in a small village, Sidhabari, beside the Jaldapara Reserve forest, in the lap of green nature, in the district of Alipurduar. It was established in 1980 by some local stalwart enthusiastics about education like Gangadhar Roy, Sukhendu Narayan Roy, Bihari nath Roy, Khagendra Nath Roy and all the inhabitants of this area.

In December, 1979, Sukhendu Narayan Roy, the then Vice Chairman of Zilla Parishad, proposed to start an M.E school in Sidhabari. He consulted with Gangadhar Roy and Khagendra Nath Roy. Gangadhar Roy agreed to donate the required land for this purpose. According to the proposal of Bihari nath Roy, the school was named after the name of the eminent social reformer of North-East Inadia, Ray Saheb Panchanan Barma.

Finally Thakur Panchanan Vidyapith started its journey with lots of dreams. After four years of journey, in 1984, the school got the recognition of a junior high school from W.B.B.S.E.

In 2000 the school got recognition as a Madhyamik School and in 2002, the first batch of students appeared in Madhyamik Exam from this school. Finally, it got the recognition of a higher secondary school in 2011 and the first batch of students appeared in Higher secondary Exam from this school in 2013.

From the very beginning, the school is still spreading the light of education among the poor but simple villagers. It is now regarded as one of the best school in this area for its academic excellence and also its excellence in all other activities.
