History

The Scottish missionaries with the help of local educationally interested  people set up the school in 1921. The missionaries felt the needs  of spreading  education in the area  for the upliftment of socially backward  classes. The missionaries like William Perry, McLean, George McClaren, Mark Wilson and Miss. Mcutcheon have a lot of contribution in giving the good shape of the school. Rev. Jitnal Narjinary, Micheal Basumata and many others local missionaries also contributed to flourish the school from all angles.

Initially the school was known as Scott Mission English Medium School. Later on, the medium was changed to Bengali medium.

George McLaren (M.A. Ph.D) was the founder headmaster of the school. He nurtured the school as headmaster for the period for 1948-1954. During his period the school was recognized by the Board of secondary  vide Memo No. 19662 dated  30.12.1951. After McClaren, P. Ghosh took over the charge as Headmaster and then Michael Basumata  served the school as headmaster from 1964-1994. Hiron Basumata is working as headmaster of the school since 1999. The school upgraded to Higher secondary in 1984 Memo No. 164(16)/DS(A)84 dated 06.08.1984.
