In the last part of December, 1973 some respected villagers interested in education took an auspicious decision to organise a four class Junior High School at the northern side of the village Gurpara, a remote village in Ketugram-II Block in the district of Purba Bardhaman with a noble mission of spreading education among the rustic pupils. According to their decision the said school was established on 2nd January, 1974.
Later on those pioneers such as Late Ananda Dulal Roy, Late Mahadeb Roy, Late Amarendranath Banerjee, Late Binoy Mukherjee, Late Girijanath Banerjee, Madhusudan Mukherjee decided to shift the school in a secluded place of the village. Required land was donated by Late Binoy Mukherjee and Late Phanibhusan Banerjee.
At the time of starting teaching, classes were held in the mud built house with thatched shed by the side of a mango grove. Students from villages like Gurpara, Gopalpur, Korola, Atghara, Hatpara, Mitratikuri, Bhomorkol and Chitahati were admitted in different classes and started getting education from the qualified teachers, named Abani Kr. Ghatak, Prativa Ranjan Banerjee, Nityananda Ghosh, Gobardhan Ghosh, Ananda Dulal Ghosh and Ananda Gopal Mondal.
Unflagging effort of these taechers soon brought a healthy and conductive atmosphere. Nisith Ranjan Banerjee and Swapan Kumar Banerjee started serving this newly sprouted school as a Clerk and a Group ''D'' staff respectively.
