History

MALANDIGHI  DURGADAS  VIDYAMANDIR, a reputed Institution of Kanksa Block of Durgapur SubDivision of Paschim Bardhaman was originally established on 23rd March,1953 with a view to provide value based Education to the children of Malandighi area and the neighboring villages.

 An eminent personality of malandighi, Late Adyacharan Mukhopadhyay, established the school in the name of his Grandfather, Late Durgadas Mukhopadhyay. Initially the school started its operation in the farm house of Mukherjee family with four children and three teachers. Then the soul of  the village, Dr. Nanigopal Mukhopadhyay played a pivotal role in the infrastructural development and management of the school. Gradually  by combatting a number of advertises the school got its recognition for imparting education up to  Class-II from the Govt. in 1954.  With the passage of time the school became a Junior High School through a continuous effort of the local people in 1961. Then it got its approval as Secondary School in 1981 and recognition  as Higher Secondary School 2004.

Presently this Institution  has become one of the most traditional Institution in the serene beauty of the forest area of Durgapur.
