Bahula Sashi Smriti High School has always been one of the most prestigious educational Institutions of undivided Burdwan and even now it has not lost its reputation. The School started its maiden journey in the year of 1953. In the early 20th Century the locality had the only High School at Ukhra. Late Debendranath Pal for the benefit of the local aspirants set up a school to communicate the name of Sashibala Devi his Late. mother. Help came from different corners. The teachers with their dedication and the students with their determination and tireless striving achieved what we can hardly imagine for a new born Institution - Ajoy Sarkar, a student of the school secured 5th position in S.F Exam. The School got Sri Bholanath Sengupta as the First Head Master. Then came Sri Ganesh Dutta, next we got Sri Madhusudan Chakraborty and now Sri Subrata Roy has succeeded the chair. It is now a Higher Secondary School with three streams and 1850 students in all. The Teaching Staff falls short of requirement. Still the School is providing a galaxy of students in M.P and H.S. It has also a separate set up for Vocational courses in Higher Secondary level. The Institution has a well furnished Infrastructure that helps to magnify the all-round development of the student. The School facilitates more than 800 students with Mid Day meal in a well furnished and hygienic dining hall. The School has separate Laboratories for each individual subjects (Laboratory Based) with all equipments. The computer laboratory has more than 60 computers with seating arrangement infrastructure for 60 students at a time. The School has a big play ground where the students play regularly and Physical Training classes are provided on a regular basis for their physical development. Bahula Sashi Smriti High School is well known in the locality for its own heritage and traditional culture.
