History

Santinagar Vidyamandir for Girls' High was established in the year 1973 being bifurcated from Santinagar Vidyamandir (H.S), a coeducational institution and subsequently recognized as a separate institution, w.e.f.,1st January, 1974.WBBSE issued a recognition to the institution as a Class X institution,  w.e.f. 01.01.1984.

The school runs in the morning shift as the campus is jointly shared by Santinagar Vidyamandir (H.S).

The school was founded on 24.01.1967 and the foundation stone was laid by Mrs.Arati Dutta, wife of Mr .Nihar Ranjan Dutta, the then M.D, IISCO, Burnpur. 

The name of the institution was originally Santinagar Vidyamandir  .In November, 1972, the Committee set up Santinagar Teachers' Training College to run Teachers' Training (B.Ed Course) under the University of Burdwan.

Three consecutive batches underwent the Teachers' Training and passed out from the College in the period 1972- 1978.

The Committee set up a SC/ST hostel in the year 01.01.1973.The school was then bifurcated to cope with the increasing strength of pupils and our institution,  Santinagar Vidyamandir for Girls' High came into existence. 

The first Headmistress of this institution was Smt.Meera Roy.

Recently the school became Govt.sponsored from Govt.Aided and Sri Rathindranath Majumdar is its present President.
