Guru Nanak Mission High School was set up as a Primary School on the historic day of 26 January 1962 at the present site by Guru Nanak Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, the parent body of all Sikh Mission schools in Asansol under the visionary and dynamic president ship of Sardar Surjeet Singh Atwal, renowned for his philanthropic activities and a burning zeal with the sole aim to envision, encourage and cater to the requirements irrespective of all students of caste, creed, sex or religion.
The school started blooming and gradually rising from JUNIOR as HIGH school in 1963 to HIGH school in 1966 at Ismile, village ,Asansol, Dist- Burdwan.
Guru Nanak Mission High School secured the minority status by the ennobling judgment of Hon'ble High Court Kolkata on 12-12-1990 and on 11-05-2001 and it was duly approved by the Director of the Secondary Education Kolkata. This school has been granted all claims, privileges, and benefits as are envisaged under the Article30(A) of Constitution of India.
It is a Co-educational School approved by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education Kolkata and the medium of Instruction in the school is Hindi, English & Gurumukhi.
The school is situated in a very calm and serene environment away from the the hustle and bustle of the city’s congestion giving school an ideal place to thrive. The school has an ample big playground of its within the school’s boundary with lush green trees surrounded by it. The school has a heritage building which was built in 1904 and used by the Army as WIRELESS EXCHANGE during the WORLD WAR II.
The members of the managing committee are nominated by The Guru Nanak Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, the parent body of the school except the teacher representatives of the school, the president of Guru Nanak Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee is the ex- officio President of the School.
All the infrastructure of the school, land, building, library etc had been purchased by Guru Nanak Prabandhak Committee for the school and had assisted and has been assisting with all necessary finance as and when required for the development of the school.
In 2004 a mammoth task was under taken for making a new building by the Hon'ble president of Guru Nanak Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Sardar Malik Singh Jee a great visionary a philanthropic and a religious icon and Sd Harjeet Singh Jee khalsa General Secretary . The entire community was heartily thankful to these two for their tireless efforts for giving such an elegant building to the community. It was this building which proved to be the fulcrum, as it was for this the school was upgraded from High school to Higher secondary. Later the management got the sanction with their efforts and the H.S section (ARTS) came into existence in the school.
With span of time, hard work, honesty and deligency of the management and school authorities & staff the Guru Nanak Mission High School (H.S) Ismile has established itself one of the renowned institutions in the city.
The school takes the pride to enlighten about the Schemes and Projects of the West Bengal Government which are very smoothly and efficiently running in the school.
