Ushagram Girls’ High School (Primary Section) was established before independence in 1904 by the Christian Missionaries Rev. William Price Byers and Rev. Fred G. Williams. The name Ushagram was given by the noble Lauriate Rabindranath Tagore is steeped in symbolism. The name denotes that the Sun rises first in the Eastern side of the town. The Methodist Episcopal Church founded the school but the land was donated by the Maharajas’ of Kashipur.
