“Knowledge is power, information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.” Kofi Annan
This school began its journey, holding the hands of two eminent patriots and lawyers, Late Nagendranath Mukhopadhyay and Late Gour Hari Som on 8th March 1921. The school had witnessed the gracious presence of some eminent personalities including Mahatma Gandhi, Deshbandhu C.R. Das, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sarojini Naidu, C. Rajagopalavhari and others. The school thus takes great pride in itself, or being part of India’s glorious freedom struggle.
Post independence, the school functioned in four separate wings as Hindi Vibhag, Bangla Vibhag, Sanskrit Pathsala and the Tant Charkha Vibhag. Besides, there existed ‘Gandhi Granthagar, which was aimed to spread the virtues of Gandhism among the common masses of the region.
The school, aimed at providing education to the most downtrodden, today caters the educational requirements of more than 1500 students from class 5 to class 12. it is an achievement for this school that, it has been able to transcend the barriers of religion, language, caste, class and gender through its policies over the years.
The school is duly recognised by WBBSE and WBCHSE as a Hindi medium school, although the school attempts to provide learning instructions, through a multilingual approach. This help young learners overcome learning difficulties, in their tender age. Indeed, this school represents a miniature Indian society, showcasing the greatness of ‘Unity in Diversity’, along the banks of river Hooghly.
We are proud to have produced some outstanding students over the years, inspite of some several hindrances. The school continues to strive towards its fundamental aim to make education reach the most deprived .Every effort is made to provide a holistic development for children. Sports and Games, NCC are an integral part of the school curriculum.
I request parents/guardians and all well-wishers to extend their whole hearted cooperation to the school authorities. Cooperation from all sections of the society is solicited in maintaining a conducive teaching learning environment in the school.
