Established in 25th January,1974 , Sankar Nepali High School (HS) is the only Nepali medium Co-educational school from Toorsa river to Sunkosh lying in the northern side of Dooars - Terai region. Our school has played a vital role in the education and development of the linguistic minority Nepali people of this area since the very inception.
'Rome was not built in a day'- my sincere thanks and ovations goes to all the living and the past souls who fought through difficult times in bringing the school to the present day stage and I take this opportunity to pay tribute to the founders and all the ex - members , guardians and the students of the school.
It becomes very difficult when one faces a situation like penning down all the activities of a school having as long a struggling historic past as ours. Since my taking over the office as full fledged Head of the Institution in 2nd January, 2012, the school has come a long way in it's holistic development through tireless efforts of a team of dedicated teachers and other governmental and non - governmental agencies. I sincerely thank all those who have helped in demarcation of school land and obtaining the funds from various sources for the construction of the school boundary wall and the school building.
"Fortunate is the person who helps to bring out a 'Person' from a child." The dedicated handwork of the school team have not only found its reflection in the MP & the HS examination results but also in other areas of co - curricular activities of the students within the limited resources of a rural based school. Proper guidance from the different members of the sub committees for sports and culture has encouraged many students to distinguish themselves in different walks of inter, intra and extra school provinces.
However , there is much more to be done. The present day cut - throat competition in every sphere of life has compelled the educationist and the guardians to probe into the attitudes that are to be inculcated in the minds of the new generation. Our intelligence and its application in day to day living set us apart from all other living beings on the planet. More so, our ability to sympathisize and empathize does work us out. Yet we pride in the extent to which we have as humans reached out to save other humans. Humanity in distress and even animals and environment under duress has lately been the object of intellectual search. A closer scrutiny readily reveals that it is due to our very utilization of the intelligence over the past three hundred years that we face the dire situation of the present.
Education is a two way process. One who is not wiling to share or give cannot be educated. When one is willing to open oneself to the process of giving, one gets educated. Education is meant to bring out best qualities which are dormant within us to the forefront for the service of a fellow being.
As educators , our effort in the coming years should be to develop the youth population who possess superior skills in the area of their operation, and to equip them with human virtues and qualities, essential in making the world a better place to live in. To conclude, we can assume that as a part of society our task now is not to fix the blame for the past, but to fix the course for the future. Thanks & regards.
