Manikyahar Sarangi Sundar High School is one of the oldest in its category in Beldanga-II block of Murshidabad district. Bipradas Chandra Babu and some education loving people came forward to spread education in masses in order to illuminate the area with a spark of knowledge. They took initiatives and in 1956 the school was inaugurated in the name of Sompara Jr. High School at Sompara. Late Dhiraj chandra became the secretary of the school and head master was Chakrapani Das. The school was run up to VI. The school was shifted to another makeshift building of Thakurbari (Sadarbari) in 1957.
