Alumni

South Suburban School Main was established in the year 1874. A number of ex-students of this school were celebrities and known throughout the country and even abroad. Unfortunately, the necessity to form an alumni association was never felt. Though a few ex-students met at different times and tried to form an association of ex-students but unfortunately those organisations were short lived. Moreover, some organisations were formed only to re-unite their batch mates.

It was in the year 2004, at the behest of Dr. Subhash Chandra De, South Suburban School (Main) Alumni Association was formed which is still functioning. The objectives of the association are two-fold namely to re-unite the ex-students of the school and to assist the present students economically and culturally.

In order to fulfill the above objectives the alumni association organises a grand 'Alumni Day' and a picnic. Those two programs are being participated by the members of the association and their families. Swami Vivekananda's condolence meeting was held at our school hall which was presided over by Rabindra Nath Tagore and Sister Nivedita was the main speaker. To commemorate, the association organises a grand cultural get together on 12 July each year.

The association also felicitates ex-teachers and eminent ex-students each year.

The association gives scholarships to many meritorious but needy students each year. A number of prizes are being awarded to the toppers of the school and the toppers of different classes/subjects.

Besides, the association organises health check up camps/ dental check up camps for its members, teachers and students of the school. Quiz programs, hand writing competitions and other activities are also being organised by the association.

Presently Dr. Subhash Chandra De and Shri Prabhat Banerjee are the Chairman and the Secretary respectively.
