FOREWORD

GOVT. MODEL SCHOOL, OLD MALDA has been established with a view to fulfill the educational aspirations of this region, in many ways cut off from the mainstreams of english learning. A large segment of the population of this place is economically backward and most of the inhabitants of this locality are well below the poverty line with the unfortunate result that quality education is denied to them. It is my sincere hope that the establishment of a Government Model School like this will go a long way in making high quality school education affordable and accessible to the less privileged sections of the society. I further hope that this institution does not become merely a training centre to train students to answer a few selected questions but an institution with a vision committed to the all round development of the students so that they emerge as good as well as successful human beings. I use this platform to appeal to all the teachers, the non-teaching staff members, the students, the guardians and all other well wishers to come forward and together help in building this institution and take it to greater heights of academic excellence. With a concerted team work and a combined effort the journey ahead will be smooth and meaningful. Let us walk together an extra mile to strengthen the foundation of this institution
