Displaced people who lost everything as a result of partition migrated from East Bengal to Bengal. At that time, the people who lost their land settled in the area adjacent to Kasimbazar in Murshidabad. The area came to be known as 'Manindranagar' as it was developed in favor of the then King Manindrachandra Nandi of Kasimbazar. In the spread of women's education in the region, some of the most enthusiastic and generous people of the time took the responsibility of establishing a girls' school on their own initiative. Manindranagar Girls' School was established on 15 August 1955. The junior girls 'school of that time has been upgraded to the high girls' school (higher secondary) today.
In the early days, the school was taught in Manindranagar Boys School. In 1955, the educated people of the area begged for the construction of a school building and with the help of the locals, they built the present school house. When the school building was constructed, the school was shifted here from the boys' school. Everyone's favorite 'Mastermashai' Naresh Chandra Roychowdhury has nurtured this school. He even donated his salary to improve the school. His other shadow companion was Girish Chandra Bhattacharya. Despite their considerable lack of financial capacity, these selfless and respected individuals devoted themselves to teaching with full vigor and enthusiasm. Naresh Chandra Roychowdhury came forward in women's education by collecting students from house to house. It may be mentioned that Mohanlal Jain helped to take the school forward with financial support. Nagendranath Dev, the first secretary of the school management committee, played a major role in the development of the school. The foundation stone of Students Health Home was laid in the school by the hand of Prabhat Roychowdhury.
According to the locals, Manindranagar was full of mango orchards before the settlement. At that time the source of income in the area was not good. There was a cloth mill in the area. Several people were employed there. There was also the cottage industry of making oyster buttons. Some people also worked in it. Government servants or school teachers were few and far between. At that time jute was cultivated in Manindranagar and adjoining areas. At that time Marwaris and Gujaratis came from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat and started buying jute. Manindranagar developed as a trading center for buying jute. Educated people of the area came forward to spread women's education including Naresh Chandra Roychowdhury, Girish Chandra Bhattacharya, Bimal Chakraborty, Parimal Sarkar, Rakhal Chandra Shasmal, Shailesh Roy, Vijaykant Lahiri, Bhupendranath Bose, Nagendranath Dev and many others. They begged in the neighborhoods and built school buildings.
The contribution of Naresh Roy Chowdhury, the first headmaster of the school, has not been forgotten even today. Some people have taught without pay, one of whom is Girindra Mohan Bhattacharya. The school was first approved as a junior girls' school in 1955. The school was approved as a high school in 1959. At that time there was no government grant. Students were paid a couple of rupees. However, all the money earned by the teachers was spent on the construction of the school building. In 1980, the school was approved for government assistance. Since then, teachers have been receiving low salaries. After the death of Naresh Roy Chowdhury, Gauri Chatterjee became the first headmistress of the school. After that, the size of the school gradually increased. The new building was constructed in 2005 with the financial support of Rajya Sabha member Manoj Bhattacharya and Sarva Shiksha Mission. Despite all this, the school building that was first constructed is in a dilapidated condition today. The school was upgraded to higher secondary in 2006.
