HOI’s Desk
It’s pride moment for us that we now have a place on the website. Our school, however small or insignificant it may be, can be viewed from anywhere on the globe. Thanks to the Education department for providing us with this opportunity.
A school is actually a society in miniature and it certainly has a bearing on the society. Our school, a very young one, started its journey officially in 2001 but actually in 2003. It was set up to facilitate the schooling of the drop-outs in and around Darappur, a remote village in the district of Nadia. The existing high school (HS) was the sole institution that failed to accommodate a huge number of student population of 5 or 6 villages and the unsuccessful students have to drop out of school.
The journey that started with only 214 students and 6-teachers in 2003-04 in a tin-shed has proved to be a nice one. The 4-class junior high school was upgraded to a secondary school in 2009 and it was recognized as Higher Secondary Institution in the session 2015-16. Now we have more than a thousand students. We have 21 teachers, including myself and 2 para-teachers. No teaching or non-teaching post have yet been sanctioned for the HS section.
We are still having shortage of physical infrastructure as well as shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff. Yet within limitation, all the stakeholders have been trying their best to earn their institution a reputation in the vicinity. But we are yet to achieve anything worthy in academic domain as our feeders come mostly from the first generation learners’ family. But in sports and cultural arears, we have got some recognition within the block. We are hopeful of doing better in academic performances in the near future.
The reflection of the results on the website may seem embarrassing for us but we will leave no stone unturned to look it better. We have no glorious history, nor have we great alumni. But we may boast of the fact that we have been imparting education to a student community that come mostly from the BPL families with limited resources.
Our motto is to ensure schooling of all up to higher secondary level and to bring down marriage of girl students to zero.
