  FROM THE H.O.I. DESK

Bikramnagar Haranath Niroda Sundari Ghosh Vidyamandir (H.S.) is an institution of excellence committed to its goal of spreading the light of learning among the masses. It’s true that there are quite a few schools in the vicinity but our institution has its own role to play as it caters to the educational needs of the underprivileged section of the society. As such, apart from its academic goals, it has social commitments as well.

The sprawling campus of our institution is the second home to the blooming buds that have entered the arena of education. Our students have proved their mettle not only in academics but also in cultural activities and the world of sports. Our Kho-Kho team is of national repute and some of our students have won laurels at the state level in the field of gymnastics as well. Our cultural attainments are no less noteworthy. In music and dance, in staging plays and in producing musicals, our students are next to none. We came runners up at the state level in the Mock Parliament competition.

The infrastructure, though by no means comparable to the other elite institutions of the area, still conforms to the standards of other govt. sponsored institutes. However, certain portions of the building need to be renovated and certain facilities installed.

There are two buildings in the campus: the old Promatha Bhavan and the newly constructed Vidyasagar Bhavan. With more than fifteen classrooms, a spacious library, well equipped labs (separate labs for Computer, Physics, Chemistry and Biology), a large auditorium and a sprawling playground, we do cater to all the needs of our students in the best possible way.

Our faculty includes twenty full time teachers, two para teachers and two part time teachers. All our teachers are academically sound and professionally qualified and are the stalwarts in their particular field. Apart from academics, they also take a keen interest in extra-curricular activities and in the counselling and guidance of the students. Members of the non-teaching staff include two Clerks, two Lab-assistants and a Group-D staff, all of whom are dedicated in their service to the institution.

Our institution perfectly balances academics, aesthetics and calisthenics in its curriculum and believes in the development of a complete individual who is sound in head and heart, body and mind. We have always strived to instill proper values in our students. No wonder, our students have shone in public life, sports and academics and hold prominent positions in different fields.
