Mr. Kazi Masum Akhtar, the headmaster of Haranath High School is an acclaimed educator, columnist, debater and a crusader for social causes. He had been conferred with one of the highest civilian awards in India, The PADMASHRI AWARD by the Govt. of India for his outstanding contribution in the field of education and literature in the year of 2020. His outstanding contribution in the field of education has also been recognized by the Govt. of West Bengal thus bestowing him with Shiksharatna Samman, 2017. He had also been awarded with Dronacharya Samman , 2016 as Principal of the year by Anandabazar Patrika. He has many more such laurels in his possession. He has fearlessly penned with brutal honesty against the social malpractices, superstations plaguing the society, particularly the Muslim society thereby contributing towards the upliftment of the under privileged. He is a staunch supporter of women empowerment and ardent champion of gender equality.he had braved different hurdle adversities in the path of social reformation.   

His more than 450 post editorial columns have been published in well known Bengali newspapers like Anandabazar Patrika, Sangbad Pratidin, Bartaman etc. Some of his well known publications include titles like, Dharmashrito somaj O Rajneeti, Banchito rakhar Sarajantra, Bipanno Sanskriti O Santrasbad etc.

He is a calibrated Orator who is a regular and prominent face in different talk shows of highly acclaimed Bengali TV Channels. He always raises his voice to advocate nationalism and patriotism and protest against all sorts of corruption.

He is one of the panel members of Central Broad of Film Certification (Censor Broad), Govt. of India. He has not confing himself within the bookish knowledge. But has educated his students to seek beyond the covers of the books.
