Patchhara Tarakanta High School is now counted among the top rated schools inCoochbeharBlock-1 as wellas Coochbehar district with an excellent academic, cultural, game and sports track record though it is located in a remote village( Jhaljhali,P.O. Patchhara, Circle-IV,Coochbehar Block-1),in Coochbehar district which area was ironically known as the paradise of illegal and unethical activities in the period of 1972 to 1995 due to its geographical detachment from coochbehar Sadar and Dinhata subdivision as it was encircled by Jhajhali River without Bridge. Moreover about 90% people live with hand to mouth and more than 80% inhabitants belong to Rajbangsi Community. Education at that period was out of their dream. In that circumstances this school was established by the heartiest patronization of two brothers: Sri Kamini kanta Roy Sarkar and Sri Biswanath Roy Sarkar who donated the required land for school and others who raised their helping hand in this mission were Joytin Roy, Kshirod Chandra Roy, Krishno kanta Barman(G.P.Prodhan),Dipendu Chakrabarty HM of Jhaljhali. A.P, Gopal Saha. S.I of Schools (PE) circle IV.and the school was recognised as Patchhara Tarakanta Jr. High School by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 2000 vide Recognition No.: S/Recog/2000/381 dt.20.06.2000 and schooling of this school was started on 02.05.2001 along with 245 students and one teacher: Sri Dibyendu Bhattacharjee (A.T.) in the morning shift in Jhaljhali A.P. School as the school has no own building. The school was shifted in day shift in its own partly constructed two class rooms in 2002. Mr. Dibyendu was carrying out the load of the school with some anxieties and uncertainties due to lack of the approval of his service and without salary up to 5months in addition to some political hazardous and rigidity. In that crucial moment Sri Atul Chandra Roy , joined as a Headmaster on 12.10.2001 and Mr. Bhartacharjee got relief from the vortex of headmastership and relaxed by getting his immediate higher authority to purgate whatever in him.

Atul Chandra Roy, newly joined headmaster initially dissolved the political barriers and rigidity over the school and pulled it out to establish it as an apolitical institution. He emphasised on the good relationship between school and community and tuned a new tone among them: “IT IS OUR SCHOOL” and” WE HAVE TO EDUCATE OUR CHILD” This tuning create a huge enthusiasm among the community and many of them such as Puspa Roy, Siddiqur Rahaman, Adhir Barma, Amulya Roy, Bishu Modak, came forward to fulfil the new mission of the school. Gradually this school was upgraded as a high school by the Memo no : S/Recog/2008/1420 dt. 25.8.2008 w.e.f. 01.05.2008. For the Last one decade more than100 students were passing out in M.P Examination per year with a few of the them obtaining letter marks and performing a good number of cultural programmes by the Cultural Unit of school. Moreover the mental and physical health of the students are enhancing by the friendly guidance of the physical Education Teacher of the school and it has become a safe and secure place of physical activities even out of the school time. It has now good schooling along with gym, vocational unit, MDM, big playground; cultural hall and stage, Computer lab .In addition to that The NIRMAL VIDYALAYA AWARD 2019 I is the outcome of the united efforts of the school.
